TODAY'S PROGRAM

The planned speaker for the program today was cancelled. In his place a well known authority in many areas volunteered to speak to us. The person is also multitalented so this editor doesn't know what the complete program may include. Since this person is a strong believer in free speech, he will allow time for questions at the end of the talk. His topic is one that is not spoken of very often, but he feels that it is a pertinent topic to bring before us at the time. Some of us may feel strange with the topic, while others may find it useful. There will be hand outs. The topic is "Grief Resolution", and the speaker is our own Al McLellan.

LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM

Michael Fritz introduced the members of the Key Club from the Lamp Program. He said he likes to have the Key Club give the State of the Club report once a year. Mike introduced Liz Morgan, President of the club. Miss Morgan plans to attend Troy State University next fall, on a basketball scholarship.

Liz began by introducing her officers who accompanied her; Stephanie Khown, Vice President; Jenna Martin, Treasurer and Ryan Glanzer, Secretary. All of these students are seniors. She thanked the Club for its support of the Key Club and Mike for his being the sponsor of the club. The Key Club has a membership of 130 members, most of whom are active. A run down was given of the activities for the year to date. They hosted the Fall Rally, there was not a big turn out, but everyone enjoyed themselves.

Thanksgiving the members decided to make up baskets and give them to needy families. Thirteen families were selected and three members were assigned to each of the families. The club bought hams and turkeys with members supplying other items, so each family had a Thanksgiving dinner.

They sponsored a Christmas party for children. Eighteen people were assigned to 18 groups who bought gifts for the children. The children ranging in ages from 5-12 years old. The kids were from TSM and everyone had a great time, especially the kids. The club plans to do the some thing next year.

Valentine's Day a party was held for 20 TSM students who had perfect attendance for the year. It was decided by the club that they would adopt a project helping the students from TSM

The Key Clubbers are planning a skating trip to include some of the TSM children.

They went to the Children's Hospital to visit the patients and present them with a radio.

The election of officers will be this month. They will be presented to the Club in March. Officers this year have worked well together and accomplished a lot. All 4 of the officers that visited are seniors. Liz said she got involved in the Key Club in the 11th grade. Two others said they also got involved at the same time. "The Key Club has helped her to grow as a person", Liz said. She feels it has given opportunities to be involved in activities that have helped others. When asked by the Club members if she will continue to be involved in Circle K in college, she said she plans to be active in the group.

In talking to the young ladies, the other 3 plan on attending college. They said this year has been a good one and they have enjoyed being Key Clubbers. Each said they feel the club has helped them grow in many ways. It was a pleasure to talk to these young ladies and see how focused and mature they are. Several club members asked them questions. Liz said they appreciated what Mike Fritz has done for them and the Key Club.
